Information about Shakespeare class this term:
The main theme for this term will be ‘World War 2’ As part of the History lesson the children will be visiting Nothe Fort in Weymouth studying a period of British History. Science will also be linked to the Second World War learning how to make a parachute. One of the key tools of a spy during World War 2 was a camera and we will be looking at making pinhole cameras as part of Design and Technology. Also the children will work on design techniques for card making. In Music we will look at songs and musical styles from the war time period. The children will also learn songs as a part of our Christmas productions. In Art the children will study advertisements and posters from ‘World War 2’, using the visits as a basis for this work. They will then evaluate the art techniques used, and design and produce their own war time posters.
In ICT the children will learn how to combine digital graphics with sound and words linked to their literacy and history work. They will also learn how to use dataloggers to link with their science investigations.
In Maths the children will build on their skills with a particular emphasis on problem solving using multiplication, division, fractions and decimals. In Literacy the children will also continue to build on their skills of reading, writing and spelling and will also be working on ‘The Chronicles of Narnia; to fit in with our cinema visit this October.
The main themes for this term’s PE will be swimming. The focus for games will be hockey and football.
In RE the children will consider the importance of light as a symbol to many of the different religions today. This will culminate in each class producing a display board in the hall ready for Christmas.
