Information about Strong Class this term:
Strange and wonderful things have been happening in Strong class. The children have been learning about how they can become successful learners and encouraged to recognise the marvellous feeling when acquiring new skills and achieving new goals.
Literacy has been brought to life with ‘Stop Frame Animation’ (used to make Wallace and Gromit) allowing the children’s imaginations to run wild! Stories, Myths, explanations, poems and instructions are genres of text we will be learning. In Numeracy the children are learning key skills such as number bonds, timetables, the four operations, partitioning and rounding, shape, number patterns and word problems.
Our topic for this term is ‘Chocolate!’ Science, Geography, History, Art and Design and ICT are explored through ‘Chocolate’ as our main source of inspiration! In Science, the children will learn about reversible and irreversible changes, the properties of solids, liquids and gasses, and how to separate various materials. Close links with the growth and production of chocolate means the class will learn about where cocoa is grown and the people that are affected. During Art and Design the children will make their own chocolates and chocolate box (in clay) with an Aztec influenced design. Swimming, PE and Forest School are just few other examples of the exciting and challenging activities which will take place between now and Christmas.
