THE CURRICULUM

INTRODUCTION

The children are offered wide and varied opportunites for learning. We build on the progress made in the infant school to develop their attitudes, skills, knowledge and understanding at a level appropriate to their ability as they progress through the school and on to secondary school.

Curriculum maps outlining details of the content the children will be studying in each subject will be issued at the beginning of each half term together with a list of relevant vocabulary for the core subjects. This gives parents the opportunity to further support their children's education.

THE NATIONAL CURRICULUM

The children follow the statutory requirements laid down for each subject within the framework of the National Curriculum. At Grass Royal our children are working at Key Stage 2. Each Summer Term the Year 6 children sit a number of national tests in English, Mathematics and Science which cover the Key Stage 2 programmes of study. year 4 pupils sit QCA optional tests in Numeracy, Reading, Spelling and Writing. The National Curriculum range covered is from levels 2 and 5, level 4 being the target attainment of pupils in Year 6.
